Montipora is a genus of hardy small polyp stony (SPS) corals which are made up of individual polyps living in a colony sharing tissue. All SPS normally grow in shallow waters in bright light with high water motion and serve as the foundation for many of the worlds reefs. Montipora tend to be fast growers with small frags of animals like Montipora Capicornis reaching basketball size in 2 or 3 years Bright lighting, good water movement and stable water conditions are necessary in order to get these corals to thrive. Most Montipora species grown in reef tanks appear in one of three forms - Encrusting - Plating - Upright. The growth patterns of each type vary depending on the conditions present such as how much flow is the coral is receiving.
All montipora specimens arriving at our holding facility are inspected, treated if necessary, and then monitored before being offered for sale.
